Greetings from: Mr. Jean Todt (FIA President)

Dear Friends,

Welcome to the 2018 FIA Hill Climb Masters. We are pleased to organise this event in the beautiful town of Gubbio in Italy following two hugely successful previous editions in Eschorf, Luxembourg and Sternberk, Czech Republic.

The FIA Hill Climb Masters is a biennial celebration of one of motor sport's oldest disciplines, and the strength of the first two editions has undoubtedly increased its attractiveness and reputation. This year there will be a record level of participation, both in terms of individual drivers (175) and national teams entered by ASNs (20), which will certainly create a thrilling spectacle forthe fans.
There is an extensive tradition of hill climbing in Italy — it is a country that has produced many FIA European Hill Climb champions over the decades and also has one of the strongest national competitions on the continent. The local automobile club has been organising a hill climb race here since 1966, and with such a rich heritage it is a natural choice to host this international competition.
While the desire to win is at the heart of all motor sport, hill climb is a discipline with a very close community of drivers, teams and spectators. It was one of the goals of the FIA to create, with Hill Climb Masters, an event where the passionate participants from all over Europe could come together both to race and to share in their enjoyment of the sport.
The growth that we have seen every edition since its inception clearly shows that this has been a huge success. I would like to thank the Automobile Club d'Italia for hosting the event in its country, together with the authorities of the city of Gubbio and the organizing Club, Comitato Eugubino Corse Automobilistiche, fortheirworkto make the third FIA Hill Climb Masters a reality.
Finally, I wish all the competitors, organisers, volunteers and spectators a safe and enjoyable weekend in Gubbio, and look forward to seeing once again howthe world's top hill climb drivers will fair in this blue riband competition.

Yours sincerely,
Mr. Jean Todt
FIA President
